The Plaza area may see another multi-family building rise in the coming years.
Per a Development Assistance Team application submitted to the City on June 3rd, Prairie Village-based Flint Development is eyeing the hilly site at 46th and Walnut in the Southmoreland Neighborhood for a multi-story apartment building.
Planned are 155 apartments with the units ranging in size from 1-bedroom up to 3-bedroom. The apartment building will sit on top of a 3-story parking garage. The south end of the site, along 46th Street, will include 4, 3-story townhouses. The application states that the project has an estimated cost of $40 Million and will seek incentives, but the exact kind of incentive isn’t provided. No information about who the architect is was included in the application.
The site, at 32 East 46th Street, is located roughly halfway between the Art Museums/45th & Main and the Plaza Streetcar stops. Up until a few years ago, the site was home to a Mid-Century building, which was home to the Community Christian Church Activities Center.
Flint Development recently completed the 182-unit “Leawood Village” apartments, which are located near the Ward Parkway Center. They’re also working on a redevelopment plan for the Muehlebach Hotel in Downtown.
The gallery below includes other views of the site (including views from the top of the hill).
